SA donates computers, vehicles to Central African Republic

While the Central African Republic has been going through a difficult time with the transitioning of the government, the South African government has stepped in to donate computers and vehicles to the African country’s plight.

The Secretary of the United Nations, made the request for the donation to South Africa’s president Jacob Zuma, and was comprised of 15 vehicles and 1200 computers.

According to the National Electoral Authority of the Central African Republic, the donations have been transported to Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.

The country recently held a referendum about whether they should adopt a new constitution. The African Union (AU) commended the Central African Republic public for taking part in the referendum even though there were threats of intimidation and violence.

The first round of the Central African Republic presidential and parliamentary election will be held on 27 December 2015, and provision has been made for a second round on 30 January 2016.
