Robbers threatened to kill 11-year-old during farm attack

October 2, 2014 – Farmer Jaco van Wyk and his workers were busy in the dairy when four robbers forced them to the homestead on the farm Welgevonden near the Belfast-Stoffberg road, where Antoinette his wife and their 2 children 11 years and 26 months waited for Jaco.

The robbers threatened to kill Jaco’s 11year old son with a gun in order to obtain information on weapons and money. When the robbers could not find weapons or money they shot Jaco and one of the farm workers – both in the leg.

The 4 robbers tied the family and their 3 workers up and left empty handed. Antoinette freed herself about an hour and a half after the attack in the dairy commenced and made alarm.

Paramedics treated the wounded Jaco and his worker on the scene. The police followed tracks, indicating that there could have been as many as 7 thugs involved in the farm attack. One of the suspects may be a former worker that left 6 months ago.

This is the 2nd farm attack in two weeks in the Tonteldoos-Stoffberg area. Sarel Jansenvan Rensburg (75), from the farm Froggy Pond, was murdered 2 weeks before that.
