Cyril Ramaphosa is on his election campaign making promises and promises of land donations to voters everywhere. The latest is in the Ebenhaeser area outside Vredendal, where land was distributed to the Griquas and Khoi. He has once again made stirring statements that white landowners are no longer in a position to counter the government’s land reform policy.
He then worked on farm workers in Citrusdal where there are so-called labor disputes between farm workers and Rooibos producers. According to him, the people of the country are hungry for land and farmers need to make peace with the process.
Meanwhile, he acknowledged that his people, who were part of community property associations, worked for their own pockets in land claims.
Observers believe this is why some claims have been forfeited for about twenty years with the associated costs.
