The fuel price that will be further increased this Wednesday 3 April 2019, makes the liquid almost as expensive as gold, says consumers mockingly.

The price of petrol increases by R1.34 per liter and diesel increases by R0.82 per liter, leaving the traveling public with a big hole in their budget.

The increase is attributable to the weak Rand and the more expensive oil price, but the increase in fuel tax, again contributes to the tremendous leap.

The fuel levy going to the Treasury is further supplemented by R0.15 per liter as part of the Road Accident Fund.

The Rand, which is already over the R14 mark for the week, is making it harder for the motorist to keep up, especially for those who are on the road to and from the workplace for several hours.
