The activation of 48 hour action plan yielded further significant and enormous results by seeing the armed robbery suspects behind bars. Unsuspecting victims were accosted at gunpoint by the suspects, held against their will and tied up in the veld, others accosted in their homes and robbed of their belongings.

A total of ten suspects have been arrested thus far, subsequent to the spate armed robberies in the Sol Plaatje Municipality. All suspects are facing charges of armed robbery and possession of stolen goods.

The suspects have appeared in Galeshewe and Kimberley Magistrate’s Court. They have been remanded in police custody for formal bail application on 22, 23, 26 until 27 November 2018 respectively.

Two of the suspects were arrested in Brits, North West, while others were arrested in Kimberley and Galeshewe.

More arrests are imminent as our investigation continue. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri is confident that the arrests will alleviate fears of the community. He further indicated that police are all out to squeeze space as the police cannot share the space with criminals.
