Two suspects aged between 27 and 32 have been arrested immediately, after the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Peter Shivuri has instructed that the 48 hour Action Plan be activated following a recent spate of attacks on members of the public especially in the Sol Plaatje municipal area.

The suspects are in police custody following their arrest last week in Brits, North West Province. The duo are linked to recent spate of robberies, hijacking, and abductions. Unsuspecting victim were accosted at gunpoint by the suspects, held against their will and tied up in the veld, tormented until they disclosed their banking details including bank cards pin codes.

In the process the suspects will drive to town or nearest ATM and withdraw large amount of cash from the bank accounts of the victims. They were arrested in Brits, North West Province after Kimberley police followed the lead.

They are remanded in police custody, for formal bail application tomorrow before Kimberley Magistrate’s Court, on charges of armed robbery.
