On 1 January 2019 at about 11am the Northern Cape SAPS Search and Rescue Diving unit managed to rescue a 17 year old man after he drowned at the Warrenton Weir in the Northern Cape. It is alleged that the victim and his friend went for a swim in the dam. The SAPS members rescued the two men and administered CPR on one of them, after he stopped breathing.
The Provincial SAPS Search and Rescue team, WO Brakkies Breedt and WO Michael Korasi were busy patrolling the resort, resuscitated and revived the victim and then contacted the ambulance services to transport him to Warrenton Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Parents please NEVER let your children swim in a pool that is unsupervised.
Persons who cannot swim should never be allowed in the water.
An appeal is made to adults not to enter the water whilst under the influence of alcohol.
Persons are requested to stay away from swimming in dams, quarries and rivers as it poses life threatening danger because of unseen currents, water plants, water animals and rocks.
