A week long multi-disciplinary approached operation dubbed High Density Crime Prevention Operation, yielded success within the Pixley Ka Seme Cluster. All SAPS units including Tactical Response Team (TRT), Public Order Police (POP), Corporate Communication, Detectives, Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), Crime Intelligence (CIG), Support Personnel, Vehicle Identification Section (VIS), Flying Squad, Legal Services, Air Wing, Northern Cape and Provincial Traffic Officials, painted the Pixley Ka Seme Cluster blue by high police visibility.

Throughout the High Density Crime Prevention static road blocks and vehicle check points were held on the R58, N1 and N8 High Ways; 2 x vehicles involved in the commission of crime were confiscated. High police visibility and static road blocks resulted in the arrest of two suspects who were found in possession of an undisclosed large sum of money and drugs worth R10 million. More than 5000 units of abalone, with an estimated value of R1.8 million was confiscated after a 37-year-old man was arrested at a road block over the weekend. The suspect was arrested at a road block, after abalone was found in his vehicle.

Dagga with an estimated street value of R200 000 was confiscated after the suspects were found to be in possession of dagga while travelling in separate taxis and vehicles on the N1 between Hanover and Colesberg.

One suspect was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence.

A total of 16 x Traffic fines were issued for un-roadworthy vehicles and motorist driving without valid driver’s licences.

One suspect was also issued with a fine after being found in possession of a carcass of a Kudu.

All suspects will appear before the Colesberg and Hanover Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 March 2017 respectively on various charges.

The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Peter Shivuri commended police officers for executing policing duties meticulously, by bring crime perpetrators to book.
