
NORTHERN CAPE – An early morning drug bust in Kakamas has resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old suspected drug dealer and the seizure of dagga with an estimated street value of R20,000. The swift, intelligence-led operation was executed by the Kakamas South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Langverwaght area.
On Saturday, 18 July 2026, at approximately 07:30, members of the Kakamas SAPS acted on credible information regarding suspected narcotics trafficking at a specific premises in Langverwaght. Officers swiftly operationalised the intelligence and conducted a thorough search of the property.
During the search, police recovered several packets of dagga. The 28-year-old male suspect was immediately taken into custody and has been formally charged with dealing in drugs. He is expected to face the relevant legal proceedings.
The investigation remains active as authorities continue their efforts to combat substance abuse and related criminal activities in the region.
