The South African Police Service believes that the investigation into the alleged hit and run accident, that took place on 9 December 2018, between midnight and 02:00, WO Sebake David Morake age 53, was struck and killed by a hit and run driver on Deelpan, Mareetsane Road.

Preliminary investigations by the local police revealed that WO Morake had parked his vehicle on the side of the road and at the time of the accident, he might have been standing near his vehicle. The police registered an inquest docket and the investigation has since been elevated to National Head Office, Division Detective Service for further investigation and to ensure that WO Morake’s alleged killer does not ‘get away with murder’.

WO Morake’s body was found on the road just after 02:00 which was 40 km away from his home in Agisanang, Sannieshof. The member was not on duty at the time of his death. His vehicle, a Toyota bakkie, with keys still in the ignition, was found parked on the side of the road. None of his personal belongings were taken.

The autopsy report indicated that he had died from blunt force trauma to his body which is consistent with a motor vehicle accident.

We are appealing to your publication/radio station to assist the police in appealing to the public to come forward with information. We believe that someone, somewhere came across this unfortunate incident or has heard about it.

We request any piece of information however insignificant the members of the public might think it is, we do not want to leave any stone unturned in order to finally bring the family of the deceased closure and justice.
