Two men were arrested for alleged possession of suspected stolen goods after 14 sheep carcasses were found in their car in Schweizer-Reneke, North West police said on Saturday.
Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the men, aged 30, were arrested at a roadblock on Friday.
“The police were conducting a roadblock in Amalia, Schweizer-Reneke, when they stopped and searched a vehicle wherein 14 sheep carcasses were found in the boot and on the back seat. It was discovered that the sheep were stolen at one of the farms in the area. The suspects are expected to appear in the Schweizer-Reneke Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” he said.
In a separate stock theft incident last year police found 31 sheep in a Taxi near Jeffreys Bay.
