Taxpayer’s money used to tar the entrance to Esslin Street in Potchefstroom is literally turning into a sewage hole, said Vincent Clark, FF Plus councilor in the Tlokwe Regional Municipality.

“The entrance to Esslin Street was renovated a few months ago and paved, but it is again beginning to decline because of a huge pothole that developed and is now mostly covered by sewage from nearby public bathrooms.”

“Motorists are unaware of the potholes, especially because one does not expect a pothole in a newly-developed road. It not only causes damage to cars but also destroys the road.”

According to Clark, millions of Rands have been spent of taxpayers’ money to upgrade the entrance to Esslin Street, as well as other upgrades, and among others, the power station and the parking lot, but everything goes hand in hand due to lack of proper management and maintenance by the municipality.
