
NORTH WEST — A fatal stabbing at Magogoe Tshepang Village has resulted in a murder arrest after a 29-year-old Ethiopian national allegedly killed a 26-year-old man.
The deadly incident unfolded on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at approximately 16:30. According to authorities, the suspect allegedly used a sharp object to stab the victim during an altercation, leaving him with severe injuries.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Despite medical intervention, the 26-year-old man succumbed to his wounds.
Following the incident, police registered a formal murder case and launched an investigation that led to the swift apprehension of the 29-year-old suspect. He is currently in police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of murder.
Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, issued a statement addressing the tragedy. He strongly condemned the senseless act of violence that resulted in the young man’s death and commended law enforcement for the rapid arrest of the accused.
