Jaime Julio Muxlhanga (38), was sentenced to six years direct imprisonment without an option of a fine by the Brits Regional Court on Friday, 6 April 2018, for illegally dealing in explosives.

Muxlhanga, an employee of a Rustenburg mine, was arrested by the North West Hawks’ Firearm task team assisted by the Explosives Unit and Brits Crime Intelligence on 27 March 2018 near Bapong.

Members acted on information that the accused was allegedly selling explosives around Rustenburg. He was arrested on the spot following an entrapment operation.

Muxlhanga made two court appearances culminating in this sentencing.

The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation – Major General Linda Mbana welcomed the judgement and applauded.
