The auditor general’s report found that the ANC is incapable of managing Tlokwe and Ventersdorp. It emerged at the finance committee meeting where the annual report of both Tlokwe and Ventersdorp was analyzed. The Auditor General examines the municipalities’ financial position annually and gives reasons for its findings in the annual report.
“According to the report the management of the municipality, including the mayor, have not implemented effective control measures and have not complied with the legislation order. The result is that there is an irregular, unauthorized and fruitless expenditure of about R854 million. The fact that there are no measures in place shows that the ANC is not serious about fighting corruption in the municipality, but to promote it as before,” said Fanie du Toit, FF Plus councillor in the Tlokwe / Ventersdorp municipality.
The auditor general also found that incompetent officials working within the municipality do not have the necessary knowledge to effectively perform their duties. The auditor general also found that no officials are held accountable for their actions.
“The FF Plus is of the opinion that the municipal manager must accept full responsibility for these irregularities and not to shift the blame to innocent officials who did not do their job. Decisive action against incompetent officials must be taken and they should be replaced by competent officials, regardless of their race, so that proper delivery can take place,” said Du Toit.
