In a continuous effort to clamp down on non-ferrous metals related criminality, Boitekong Visible Policing members arrested a 63-year-old suspect for possession of suspected stolen copper cables during a Crime Intelligence led operation on Tuesday, 19 March 2024.

According to information, the team operationalised intelligence received about suspected stolen copper cables. While keeping observation, a Toyota Yaris was seen collecting a man. The car was then stopped for a search, but nothing illegal was found. The occupants were nevertheless taken back to a place where the passenger was collected. During the search conducted at the place, 389 kilograms of copper cables worth R645 000.00 were found inside the Toyota Fortuner. The discovery led to the arrest of the suspect who was a passenger in the Toyota Yaris and is due to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 22 March 2024.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended all members involved for the success.
