Brutal attack of Derby woman, suspect to appear in court, Koster

A 21 year old suspect is expected to appear in the Koster Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 March 2019, on a charge of house robbery that was reported on Friday 8 March 2019 in Derby, near Koster.

It is alleged that a 58 year old woman was at her house in Derby at about 12:45, when she heard a loud bang on the roof of her house. She then went outside to investigate, but was allegedly attacked and beaten on the head when she entered her house.

The suspect fled the scene after grabbing the victim’s hand bag containing a cellular phone, purse and personal documents.

The victim’s husband, who is disabled and using a wheelchair, managed to contact the neighbours who summoned help. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is still being treated for the injuries sustained during the attack.

The suspect was successfully traced and arrested in the early hours on Saturday 9 March 2019. Upon arrest, the police recovered most of the stolen items that were found in possession of the suspect.
