On 3 December 2019, a brutal farm attack took place in Hartbeespoort, North West province of South Africa. Johan (60), was attacked in his home and badly assaulted and tied up. Andrew Brown, the man’s son, commented on social media, “This is how my Dad looks today 5 weeks after the farm attack. It hurts to see him like this most people know how he looked before the farm attack. To think that attackers can be so cruel and destroy families. Medical accounts are still pouring in everyday.”

The attackers beat and kicked the elderly man and then cut off his ear in an attempt to find firearms and cash. He was only found about 5 hours after the attack. Johan was found lying in his own blood in a critical condition and was stabilized on the scene before rushing him to Eugene Marais Hospital in Pretoria where he is struggling to recover.
