Although some services can be handled and finalized, the Department of Home Affairs has been saddled with a new system that does not allow certain services to be delivered.

At major offices throughout the country, the Department’s system is crippled enough not to produce the new ID card as well as passports.

Informed sources say the Department has not retained the old system until the new system proves that it meets all these requirements.

A Department spokesman says all the other services such as marriage certificates, death certificates and birth registration are still available.

The Department apologized for the mistake, but people who urgently need a passport are outraged because their work requires them to travel abroad while other holiday deals have now been canceled due to the Department’s inability.
