Operation Shanela becomes unstoppable as it continues to yield positive results and this time it was rolled out in the area of Calcutta, resulting in the arrest of seven (07) suspects between Friday, 22 December 2023 and early hours of today, Saturday 23 December 2023.
The men and women in Blue continue to put more focus and effort on areas that are badly affected by crime, including the area of Calcutta hence Operation Shanela is continually rolled out to reduce the levels of crime to zero.
Amongst the arrested suspects, two were nabbed after being reportedly found in possession of suspected stolen properties. Two other Suspects were arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm whilst two more were arrested for contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa and one was arrested for escaping from lawful custody.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has appreciated the continuous hard-work by members, especially in areas that are persisting to generate crime in the province. The General further encouraged members of the public that police will continue to do whatever they can in ensuring that as well as the properties are protected.
