A farm murder took place on 20 June 2019, at about 19:15 in Nigel, Mpumalanga province. An unknown number of farm attackers killed a Brahman farmer, in his 50’s, when they ambushed him at the gate of his farm. The attackers had fastened the gate with wire to prevent him from being able to open it. He was overpowered when he got out of his vehicle. He was beaten to death with a pick handle after which the attackers fled the scene.

The attack took place on the farm Witkop, just outside of Nigel. The farmer’s wife was inside the house during the attack and was unharmed. The attackers also set a vehicle on fire that was standing at the premises and when the neighbours went to investigate the smoke they found the farmers body next to his bakkie. He was brutally beaten and the murder weapon was found on the scene. Nothing was stolen or taken from the scene.

Nobody has been apprehended and these dangerous farm attackers are still at large. The family is severely traumatised. There is no other information available at this stage.
