The family of a 23-year-old man became suspicious that something was fishy when they saw him with a 15-year-old girl who is a neighbour in the early hours of yesterday, 26 December 2023 around 03:00. They then called the girl’s family.
According to information, on their arrival, the minor broke the news that she was raped. Police at Bushbuckridge were immediately alerted about the ordeal.
On the police’s arrival, the victim was taken for medical treatment and a statutory rape case docket was registered. It was during the course of the investigation when the suspect was arrested and he is expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 27 December 2023.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended the minor’s family for opening the case in order for justice to be served for the girl.
