Three suspects appeared in the Tzaneen court on Friday. The three, Cornelius Chauke (24), John Merwe (25), and Shacks Lebepe (25) stand accused of their involvement in the attack on the Van Der Merwe family on a smallholding outside Tzaneen.

It was on Tuesday, March 28, when Christelle Van Der Merwe (39) was shot in the face, and her children were assaulted with golf clubs. The suspects fled on foot, but the quick intervention by the police and community security secured their arrest.

It was reported that six suspects were involved in the attack on the Van Der Merwe family, but the total could be 13. More arrests are expected.

The court postponed the case until April 7, and the three suspects will remain in custody until then.
