In the early hours of Tuesday, March 28, around 02H00 six suspects gained entry by breaking a window to access a home situated on a smallholding in Tzaneen outside Limpopo.
When Christelle woke up, the suspects were already in the house, a struggle ensued, and they wanted her to open the safe. The suspects shot her in the face, and the two children were assaulted with golf sticks.
The suspects fled on foot, and there are no reports on what was stolen.
The police and emergency services were alerted. Christelle was transferred to a hospital in a critical condition and will undergo an operation. The children are traumatized but not seriously injured.
The police are investigating the incident.
