The case against four men accused of the brutal killing and beheading of a woman and her two-year-old daughter has been postponed to next Tuesday at the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court. The victims, Rendani Tshigwili and her daughter Ndiwatshilidzi Muronga, were found decapitated and burned beyond recognition in Tshikonelo village outside Thohoyandou.
Horrific Details Emerge
Police revealed that the victims’ heads were recovered from two traditional healers among the accused. The gruesome nature of the crime has shocked the community, sparking outrage and calls for severe punishment.
Traditional Healers Attend Court, Condemn Ritual Killings
Several traditional healers from the Vhembe district were present during court proceedings, denouncing the alleged involvement of healers in ritual murders.
“With this matter, we want justice to be served. It is a serious matter that deserves a harsh form of punishment,” one healer said. “Traditional healers need to stop this issue. You cannot get rich from ritual killings.”
Some attendees went further, urging the government to consider reinstating the death penalty for such crimes.
Case Adjourned Amidst Public Outcry
The postponement has left the community anxious for answers, as authorities continue investigations. Police have not yet disclosed a motive, but the recovery of the heads from the accused has intensified suspicions of ritualistic motives.
The case will resume next week as the court determines the way forward. Meanwhile, calls for justice grow louder, with demands for stricter measures against those involved in such heinous acts.
