A farm attack took place on 19 January 2023, between 02:00 and 03:00, on a smallholding in Polokwane in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
Mr. Obie Oberholzer, who is a foreman on the property and who stayed alone was overpowered by five attackers in his home.
Five months earlier, Mr. Oberholzer’s wife, Lindie Oberholzer was attacked and fatally wounded in her home in broad daylight on 17 August 2022.
The attackers cut the electrical fence and then gained entry by forcing open the front door.
Mr. Oberholzer was overpowered in his bed while asleep and stabbed multiple times. He was also assaulted over the head with a pickaxe handle.
The man’s dog was also beaten by the attackers.
The attackers demanded keys to the safe and stole the man’s wallet, revolver and ammunition before fleeing the scene.
Neighbours responded to assist after their dogs alerted them to the disturbance and Mr. Oberholzer was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Police are investigating but there have been no arrets.
