2 People murdered in their homes in 3 weeks, Polokwane

Over the past three weeks, two people were murdered in their homes in the Polokwane Local Municipality (Pietersburg).

Lindie Oberholzer was attacked and fatally wounded in her home in broad daylight on 17 August 2022.

Sheik Omar Mkwamba, a local muezzin (who performs calls to prayer at the mosque) and prominent figure in the Muslim community in Pietersburg, was overpowered and shot dead in the early morning hours of 30 August 2022.

The fact that the murders occurred in a period of just three weeks is an alarming indication of the level of crime in Limpopo.

The FF Plus is once again calling on communities to join their local safety and security structures, to remain vigilant at all times, and not to be careless, even in their own homes.

Limpopo residents can contact the FF Plus’s provincial office in Potgietersrus for assistance to join security organisations in their area by phoning the following number 015-5907033 or sending an email to [email protected].
