Ladies robbed at knife point

Bassett Alarms received a call from a resident in Rheazicht Street in Ridgeworth on March 6, 2015. Two ladies had been robbed by two suspect males of their cell phones at knife point.

Bassett Central Station immediately dispatched all available Officers at 17:53. Shift Commander Brits together with Response Officer Geldenhuys responded within a minute.

Three civilian males that witnessed the robbery chased the two suspects, however only one was caught, the other suspect got away by jumping resident’s walls. Our Officers went searching for him and eventually spotted him in the yard of a resident in Uitvlugt Street, he then jumped in to the next door neighbour’s yard. They got inside the yard and quickly detained him.

Response Officers Kronstrom, Janse Van Rensberg and Wiese all assisted with blocking the suspect in. The SAPS was contracted during the interim by Bassett Central Station, they arrived at 18:45 and took the suspects into custody. We received feedback a while later that the SAPS had let the two suspects go.
