The Bergville Stock Theft Unit embarked on an operation from 22 January 2021 until 28 January 2021 in the Bergville and surrounding areas. The aim of the operation was to root-out stock thieves in the Uthukela District and recover stolen livestock.
The operation yielded positive results and police recovered nine stolen cattle. The livestock was recovered in Mablesini, Sandlwana and Mkomazana areas.
All the areas falls under Upper Tugela policing precinct. The stolen cattle were positively identified by their lawful owners. Operations are still on going in the Uthukela District to curb stock theft.
