At approximately 23:58 on 24 August 2018, members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to Tyson Road in Waterloo, Verulam after receiving reports of shots being fired at a residential property.

Upon arrival the victim informed Reaction Officers that shortly after parking his vehicle at his home he was accosted by a man who was armed with a firearm. The suspect robbed him of his car keys before he attempted to force the victim into his residence.

The man resisted and pushed the gunman away. The suspect fired three shots before jumping into the victim’s Toyota Corolla.

Residents in the area heard the gunshots and upon investigation were informed of the incident by the victim. The suspect was in the process of starting the Toyota Corolla when residents began pelting him with stones preventing him from getting off the vehicle on the driver’s side.

The suspect then broke the passenger window and fled the scene on foot.

Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search of the area however no arrests were made.
