Intoxicated hit-and-run driver arrested in Tea Estate

An intoxicated E-Hailing service provider was arrested after he fled the scene of a collision that occurred in Mountview – KZN on Saturday 29 June 2024.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 10:03 from the driver of a blue VW Polo. According to the caller, the driver of a white Toyota Etios rear-ended his vehicle at the Mountview – KZN.

Both drivers stopped to exchange details but the Toyota Etios sped off. The VW Polo pursued the vehicle to Spring Road in Tea Estate – KZN where it came to a stop. Two passengers exited the car and fled on foot.

On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered that the driver of the Toyota Etios was heavily intoxicated. He informed Officers that he is a service provider for an E-Hailing service.

He was placed under arrest by Police and detained at the Verulam SAPS….
