A 68 year old woman was forced to jump over a boundary wall to seek help after she and her semi blind 70 year old garden assistant was held at gunpoint.

At approx 20:19 on Friday evening, 20 April 2018, Reaction Unit South Africa received a frantic call from a female neighbor of the victim informing of a house robbery that had occurred. A second female called the RUSA Operations Center a minute later reporting that four balaclava clad men were seen fleeing a home on Neptune Drive, Riet River.

Reaction Officers arrived on scene and found both pensioners in a state of shock. Paramedics were called in and treated them both. The woman then informed Reaction Officers that four men who were wearing balaclavas had parked an unknown make of vehicle on her driveway and derailed the gate. The suspects who were all armed with pistols pointed firearms at them and forced them into a room.

A flat screen tv was removed from a cabinet. The female victim said that she could not provide description of three suspects but confirmed that one suspect who moved his balaclava up to his forehead, was an indian male.

The woman’s 22 carat gold ring given to her by her late husband fifty years ago on her wedding day in 1968 was taken by the suspects. The elderly woman became emotional while receiving treatment when she realized that today was also the 6th anniversary of her husband’s death.
