On Saturday, 13 April 2019 at 23:00, an e-hailing services cab driver received a request to pick up three men from New Germany. When he arrived at Regal Crescent where he was supposed to pick up the three, they attempted to rob him.
The ever alert driver took his firearm and shot one suspect in the head and he died at the scene before firing two more shots of which one of them hit the second suspect. The third suspect hid on the back seat. The driver drove to KwaDabeka police station to report the incident.
When he arrived at the police station, he saw the third suspect lying in the vehicle. The second suspect who was shot was taken to the hospital under police guard. The third suspect, a 23 year old man was then arrested and charged with attempted carjacking.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear before Pinetown Magistrate Court soon.
