Farm murderer of Luan Preston sentenced to life imprisonment

A farm murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment on 12 August 2019, for the brutal and violent murder of Luan Preston. The incident occurred on 15 June 2019, on Davids Farm, Oslo beach in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal province. Luan, the farm manager was found with marks on his face and neck indicating that he was strangled by his attackers. Unknown weapons were also used to viciously assault Luan. There were 10cm lacerations on Luan’s face and pools of blood in the bedroom indicating that he put up a fight.

Cellphones, a TV set and jewellery were taken. The accused, Vincent Mziwenkosi Cele (33) was arrested a month later after an intensive investigation by a team of Port Shepstone detectives.

The Pietermaritzburg High Court sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, eight years for burglary and 12 years for robbery.
