On 5 September 2018, police at Berea deployed their officers strategically in the Musgrave area following an analysis of criminal activities, especially robberies and theft of motor vehicles. Their hard work and persistence paid off when they arrested three suspects who were about to commit crimes in the area.

Whilst police where operational on Musgrave Road they spotted three men on foot who acted suspiciously when they noticed police presence. The quick thinking police officers immediately called for backup to prevent the suspects from slipping through the net.

As police officers approached the men they decided to flee to avoid arrest. The determined police officers gave chase and apprehended the men before they could escape the long arm of the law.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, commended the brilliant work by our police officers who apprehended the suspects before they could commit a crime.

“These arrests are once again an indication that our deployment strategies which are informed by our crime threat analysis are paying off. A number of criminals are being apprehended on a daily basis due to theses proactive deployments which includes stop and searches. We appreciate the fact that citizens are reporting crimes promptly as this informs us of the modus operandi of criminals as well as the areas which they operate in, which in turn informs our deployment strategies,” he said.
