A 24-year-old man appeared in the Pongola Magistrates’ Court for dealing in dagga on 4 May 2020.
The suspect was arrested on 2 May 2020 at 20:30, following an operation by Pongola SAPS. The police officers received information about a vehicle hidden at Emphafeni area closer to the cemetery with lights off.
The driver of the vehicle was approached and he looked suspicious and nervous. A search was conducted inside the vehicle and big parcels of compressed dagga wrapped in brown sellotape were discovered. A total of 13 bags which weighed 80kg were confiscated.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the arrest of the suspect.
