Afriforum has announced that the NPA has provided a written assurance that Julius Malema will be prosecuted on charges of firing an automatic firearm in public on the occasion of the EFF’s 5 year anniversary celebrations in 2018.
Afriforum is the original complainant in the case and have been monitoring the case and was ready to go to court to force an NPA decision when the NPA at last decided to institute a prosecution against Malema. It must be clear to anyone that the only reason that the NPA decided to do its job is because of this public pressure by Afriforum but such is life today in South Africa.
Double standards abound and it is only sustained pressure by civil society organisation that will ensure that the authorities do the jobs that they get paid to do.
