It is time for Maimane to go?

Opinion by Front National SA

It is time for Mmusi Maimane to go. His irrational and inconsiderate actions are now doing more harm than good to his party and to opposition politics in general.

The Ashwin Willemse affair caused a lot of tension and anger through all levels of our society. That Minister Xasa and Gwede Mantashe would immediately play the race card is understandable, however not acceptable. The ANC, after all, has to hide their own incompetence under their obsession with racism and apartheid.

That Maimane decides to follow their lead, is inexcusable.

Even before any form of inquiry or investigation could be conducted into the affair, Maimane jumped to conclusions and tweeted that what happened to Ashwin Willemse is “SADLY AN EXPERIENCE FOR TOO MANY SOUTH AFRICANS”

WHAT exactly happened to Ashwin Willemse, Mr Maimane?

We’ll tell you what: Exactly nothing. Multichoice and SuperSport’s CEO’s, Calvo Mawela and Gideon Khobane, both confirmed that after investigation they did not pick up any evidence of racism in the affair. Yet you couldn’t wait to slam at white people again. Your action, once again, is grossly offensive. To rub salt into the wounds, you usually then try to hide it behind the moral high ground of creating a fair and equal society. You have no idea how to maintain the moral high ground, so quit trying to do so.

It is not the first time for you to do this either. Even before the two accused men in the Middelburg “coffin case” could be charged or tried, you also tweeted that they should be stoned to death.

And in neither of these cases did you ever turn round to offer an apology or explanation for your premature action.

Mmusi Maimane is making a mockery of the image of his party and of the voters right to a level headed, decisive and strong opposition to the current regime by constantly further racially polarized our already tensed country through stoking racial fires unnecessarily.

Instead of opposing similar tactics by the ANC, he follows their lead letting down the electorate and our society as a whole. In short, Mmusi Maimane is not doing his job!

Undoubtedly the DA will have to admit that his statement on “White privilege” on Freedom Day caused the party some damage. It is time for them to take stock and determine how much time, effort, energy and resources they are wasting in covering up his incompetence at the cost of the interest of the voter and of their traditional support base in particular.

Front National says to the elected leadership of the DA: It is time for Maimane to go. It is time for a vote of no confidence in him. He has insulted enough South Africans now, he has caused enough tension now, he has done enough damage to opposition politics.

We are prepared to predict that, if you should not act in the interest of your party and your supporters by getting rid of Maimane, the voters themselves will do so at the national election in 2019.
