Original title deeds for land acquired in the Pretoria area that dates back to the founding of the city, picked up from a dump site.
“Two authentic deeds from 1896 were found in a field in Franspoort and handed over to the civil rights organisation AfriForum. Franspoort forms part of the land claims taking place in the northeast of Pretoria.
“It appears that irregularities regarding deeds are taking place in the area, and this in a time where 34 000 ha land in Pretoria is being claimed. It is clear that the deeds have been ripped out of a bundle and was possibly removed from the Deeds Office,” said Tarien Cooks, Provincial Coordinator for AfriForum in Northern Gauteng.
“It seems as if the government is trying to erase the history of the Afrikaner,” Cooks said.
It is important that the community becomes part of existing AfriForum structures and keep AfriForum informed about land claims…
