The SA Teachers Union have warned the Department of Education that there are eight classrooms at Roodepoort High School that are unsafe due to cracks in the cement.
Floors have dropped by 60 mm and the structure is unsafe. The classrooms are still being used and observers say that a disaster is waiting to happen.
Meanwhile, Africa Check has found that 496 schools have been identified that do not meet the necessary safety requirements.
The poor state of buildings is attributed to the destructive nature of the pupils and the policy of the government not to do any maintenance.
