The Red Ants struck out in force in Johannesburg and cleaned up a 12-storey building.

Media reports tell the story of a once beautiful building that was erected in 1937, and all that remains is broken windows, dirt and ash of fires made from within the building.

There is no electricity and no water, fire hydrants were used to get water.

As early as the nineties, Johannesburg has been struggling with buildings that just occupy mostly illegal immigrants, and buildings lose their value so that owners only step away and accept losses. Sewage is clogged, and health hazards arise.

A similar fate struck the once proud Strubenpark apartment complex in Pretoria, and eventually, the building became so dangerous that all inhabitants had to be removed.
