The Johannesburg Department of Human Settlements has announced that RDP houses will be taken back from foreigners in Alexandra.
The foreigners claim they bought the houses but the department says that the houses are not earmarked for foreigners.
It is not clear who sold the houses to them , but in terms of legislation, a property is only the buyer’s when it is registered in his name.
Real estate sales should also not be allowed to foreigners who do not have citizenship in South Africa.
