
Pretoria, Gauteng — Law enforcement authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Tshwane election coordinator Monicca Dube, with the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) confirming the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect.
Dube, 44, who served as the EFF’s Tshwane Region 2 secretary and election coordinator, was fatally shot multiple times by armed attackers at her residence in Valhalla, Tshwane, on June 13 of this year. The targeted attack sparked widespread condemnation and intensified calls for a swift investigation into political violence in the area.
Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, spokesperson for the Political Killings Task Team, officially confirmed the development. Mathe stated that the arrest marks a pivotal step in the ongoing fight against targeted crime and political killings, demonstrating law enforcement’s commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to make their first formal appearance in court tomorrow to face charges related to the high-profile killing.
