The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Deliwe de Lange, welcomes the swift arrest of five suspects following the robbery at a jewellery shop last week, as police in Gauteng declare war on trio crimes – business robbery, house robbery and hijacking. Lieutenant General De Lange commends and thanks the members for their hard work and concerted effort in fighting trio crimes.
An intelligence-driven operation by the SAPS Provincial Trio Task Team in Gauteng led to the swift arrest of five male suspects whose ages range from 23 to 36.
On Thursday, 13 April 2017 at Hyde Park shopping centre, a group of armed men allegedly stormed a jewellery store and made off with jewellery worth thousands of rands. No one was injured during the robbery.
The five were arrested on Sunday 16 April 2017, and police seized a rental vehicle suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime.
Communities are encouraged to continue to collaborate with the Police in fighting and reducing the levels of crime in the Province. They must report any suspicious persons or criminal activities by using the Crime Stop 08600 10111 or contact their nearest police station.
