On Thursday evening 17 September 2020 and into the early hours of Friday morning 18 September 2020, a grandfather (78) was brutally attacked, traumatized and tortured for over two hours. The attackers tortured the elderly man just for a couple of household items. The man was watching TV, when savagely hit over the head with a heavy and thick glass bowl in his home in the Menlyn, Maine area near Pretoria, in the Gauteng province of South Africa.

The elderly man was strangled, kicked, beaten and threatened with a knife at his throat. The attackers forced him to take his wedding ring off otherwise they will cut his finger off. The attackers further tortured the man by pouring boiling water from the kettle over his arm and into his lap.

During the ordeal the man was tied up with electrical wires and his head covered with an unidentified cloth object and was then thrown down a flight of stairs after forcing the safe from the wall when he couldn’t open it for them.

Two hours of continuous assault resulted in massive blood loss, gashes on his hands and head. The man received urgent medical treatment including 32 stiches. He is currently in a stable condition.

There is no other information available at this stage. Police are investigating but there have been no arrests.
