After the DA’s budget could not be approved, the city is now in a race against time.
The budget must be approved by the end of June, otherwise the city council will be placed under administration by the ANC controlled provincial government.
The EFF, the DA’s supposed but unreliable ally, remained out of voting during the presentation of the budget which led to the budget being unsuccessful.
Analysts point out that this happens if the wrong political bed mates are chosen.
