A farm attack took place in Lanseria, Gauteng Province on Sunday 11 November 2018. The farmer, his partner, his mom and four children were held at gunpoint in their home. The attackers held gun to a 13 year old girls head. The chicken farmer was shot eight times in front of children aged 6,11,13 and 18. The attackers then fired shots at the children who managed to escape through a side door but fortunately all the shots missed.
The farmer was admitted to Helen Joseph hospital and is in a stable condition. The family was extremely traumatised. The attackers who were looking for firearms robbed the family of their phones and jewelry and fled the scene. There have been no arrests and the police are investigating.
