The protest that started on July 9 at Falcon Ridge, Vereeniging resulted in a tremendous amount of damage caused.
The protest was over the electrical smart meters the government want to install. The demonstrators are unhappy and do not want these meters, simply because they will now have to pay for services. Paying for a service is difficult for the unemployed, poverty stricken people who were promised free electricity and free everything.
The demonstrators have an opportunity to vote for change, but more than likely these poor deceived people will once again vote for the African National Congress (ANC) party. They will continue to burn, destroy and victimize everything that remains because nothing will change. Nothing will change under the ANC government.
