Two suspects will appear in Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of possession of drugs and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition respectively.

In the first incident the police received information about a 33 year old man dealing in drugs at a certain house in Riversands, Diepsloot. A police operation was conducted on 11 December 2018, at the identified premises and the alleged suspect attempted to evade arrest however he was swiftly arrested by the police.

Upon searching the premises, the police found a packet containing cocaine hidden in the rafter of the carport. The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs.

In the second incident on 12 December 2018, a 58 year old man’s house was also raided by the police during an intelligence driven operation in Diepsloot. The suspect’s house was searched leading to the recovery of a 7,65mm pistol with serial number filed off, seven live rounds of ammunition, and a magazine.

Upon further searching the police also found one 9mm live round of ammunition hidden underneath the mattress. He was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He will appear in court soon.
