The Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court remanded Mammie Anna Magonwane (39) in custody on fraud related charges on 2 December 2020.

It is alleged that in August 2018, Magonwane allegedly misrepresented herself as a Property Agent Conveyancing Attorney assisting a client who wanted to purchase a house in Evaton. Magonwane allegedly facilitated the house sale for approximately R230 000-00 without processing documents with authorities for change of ownership and kept the money for herself.

Further investigation revealed that Magonwane was not registered with the Law Society as an Attorney. A warrant of arrest was issued for Magonwane’s apprehension, and she handed herself in at the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation office in Germiston and was subsequently charged for fraud.

Magonwane was remanded in custody and is expected to be back in court on Wednesday, 9 December 2020 for for formal bail application.
